Psalms 107 The "Cry Out For Help" Psalm

I had chosen to take a break from fighting through. Even warriors get weary and worn. I was tired of always being the go getter. So I just laid still and was going to settle for whatever would be. I scrolled past a simple facebook post that said something like God was working on what I had prayed for even though they all seem fleeting. Something about the simplicity of it was stirring enough to reach out. So I reached out to the "Cry Out For Help" Psalm, 107.

Below are some verses that struck a chord, and in blue parenthesis are the Strong's translation of the Hebrew word or phrase used. In some cases, I also expounded for my own understanding of what was being ministered. (My blog, my post for my edification)

Their soul fainted (vitality for life, purpose for living was overwhelmed into nothingness) in them. Then they cried out (to gather oneself together and call out for help) to the Lord in their trouble (a tight place to be in, anguished, distressed),
And He
delivered (to snatch away or pluck out from) them out of their distresses.

For He satisfies (addresses the longing or emptiness) the longing soul (the insatiable appetite of/in our being),
And fills the hungry soul (ravaged and parched soul) with goodness (favorable welfare)

Those who sat in darkness (obscurity, misery, gross ignorance) and in the shadow of death (death-like shade/shadow)
Bound in affliction (entangled in oppression / misery) and irons—
Because they rebelled (bitter towards, willingly oppose) against the words of God,

And despised (renounce) the counsel of the Most High,

Therefore He brought down (put in subjection, subdued) their heart with labor;

They fell down (stumbled, decayed), and there was none (empty, be without) to help.

Then they cried out (to gather oneself together and call out for help) to the Lord in their trouble (a tight place to be in, anguished, distressed),

And He
saved them (to set free, secure victory, avenge for, preserve) out of their distresses.
He brought them out of darkness (bore out, break out, pluck out, issue out) and the shadow of death (death-like shade/shadow),

And broke their chains in pieces.

Fools (core meaning – Perverse, usage – referring to Man = the carnal man?), because of their transgression (specific act of rebellion),
And because of their iniquities (derived from perversity, action rooted in guilt, deserving of punishment), were afflicted (hurt, weakened, deal hardly with, defile).

Their soul abhorred all manner of food (burdened, overridden enough to detest food),

And they drew near to the gates of death (intimated with pestilence / ruin; culminate to the ultimate ruin)
Then they cried out (to gather oneself together and call out for help) to the Lord in their trouble (a tight place to be in, anguished, distressed),
And He
saved them (to set free, secure victory, avenge for, preserve) out of their distresses.

He sent His word and healed them (He appointed His word; He dispatched/commissioned His word and it mended, cured, repaired, thoroughly made them whole)
And delivered them (to escape as if by slipperiness; to be rescued) from their destructions (pit-falls)

Transliteration of the added sentences can read like:

Their purpose for living was overwhelmed into nothingness and compromised; they had lost their vitality for life. In their tight place of anguish, they gathered themselves together and called out to the Lord for help. He heard their cry and snatched them away, and plucked them out of their tight place. The insatiable craving in them, he satiated. The gnawing emptiness within, and the ravaged and battered souls he soothed with favorable welfare.

There were those who through gross ignorance were in obscurity and misery, and shrouded by a shade that was death-like. Misery had entangled them because they willingly opposed the word of God, and renounced the counsel of the Most High. Therefore He subdued them with labor and stress, putting them in subjection, till they stumbled and began decaying away with no one to help. Then they gathered themselves together and called out to the Lord for help in their tight place of anguish. And He secured victory for them, avenging for them, and preserving them from distress. He plucked and snatched them out of the death-like shade that had hung over them.

Carnal men, because of your specific acts of rebellion, and your guilt-ridden punishable acts, you were dealt harshly with, weakened and hurt, burdened and overridden enough to detest all manner of food. They had become intimated with ruin and pestilence. They gathered themselves together and called out to the Lord for help from their tight place. He set them free and preserved them from their distress. He commissioned and dispatched His word to mend, repair and thoroughly make them whole. He rescued them, escaping as if by slipperiness from their designated pit-falls.
