Kyle Jacobs, a country music singer and songwriter, and husband to Kellie Pickler lived in a $2.4 million home. This past Thursday, he was sharing on social media about the success of an album he worked on. The next day Friday, he committed suicide by shooting himself.
My condolences to his family and loved ones. Another one taken by suicide. Another one to show that our lives are compartmentalized. You can feel great in one compartment, and be successful in another, yet have one other compartment completely in chaos and threatening to implode the whole system!
As much as we know about mental health disorder, we are still learning about it. It seems so easy to tell folks to call out for help, yet practically speaking, the HOW is not discussed. People normally cry out for help, but people don't recognize the cry. And after the person takes matters in their hand, you have people like me reflecting of the aftermath of the suicide.
These conversations need to be had to help us understand how to identify the signs before someone takes their life. "They looked happy/successful/etc" cannot be the paradigm determining everything is okay.
