Passing the Baton of Wisdom

As an older Christian, here are some lessons learned thru experience I would share to younger Christians

1. Learn to trust in the Voice of the Spirit in you, and rely on that Voice confirming the Word to you. If you trust a voice outside you, be it your pastor or whoever, they should confirm what the Voice inside you says. Anything contrary, reject respectfully....or not! It is better to make a mistake freely following the truth in you, than to be right following the voice without and be in bondage!
"As many as are led by the Spirit are the sons of God" - Rom 8:14

2. You are ALWAYS going to have a sin issue to deal with. That's the reality of living in this flesh. So relax. Dont try to put out every fire at once. Tackle one fire in your life at a time. Be okay with the smaller fires burning, while you address the bonfire. And when do gooders show up to harass you that you have small fires burning you need to put out, kindly tell them to focus on the wildfire in their backyard!
"If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us" - 1 John 1:8

3. Find someone to be accountable to. It's not dependency on anyone, it is you not thinking you are all that. You are flawed and subjective and will act a fool once a while. That's a given. Find someone you can be transparent with to hold yourself accountable. Do not fall into the trap all these rogue Christians are in, eternally preaching to others, but unable to be transparent and accountable to anyone.
"Confess your sins one to another" - James 5:16

4. Find an avenue to invest your gifts. There is something you are passionate about. Find a way to indulge in it. Do not wait for church folks to validate you. We are the most insecure and envious lot, always threatened by someone else's anointing, and eager to put down someone. Identify your light, and let it shine however you can. Find people who appreciate it. Run from those ever ready to critic it!
"Your gifts will make room for you" - Pro 18:16

5. Lastly, know that God is ALWAYS for you. In your mistakes, failures, dysfunctions. So dont focus on your track record or achievements, rather focus on hearing the heartbeat of God in you. Focus on that sweet spot inside you between you and God; make sure it is never cluttered or starved. That's your candle with which God will always lead you. Feed it by reading the Word and talking to Him always, even when you dont feel like it!
"The spirit of man is the candle of the Lord" - Pro 20:27
