Pastor Kenneth Tamara online: Celebration of Nigerian Independence at The Nigerian Embassy

Nigeria's Independence Day is Oct 1st. However for this year, it fell on a Saturday. As a result, it was celebrated on Monday October 3rd.

The Ijaw Diaspora Council (IDC) was invited. As the Director of Public Relations and Social Media, I attended along with a fellow member, Grace Tende, a professional in the healthcare sector.

The event involved the 62nd celebration of Nigeria as an independent nation, the vital economic and political relationship between the United States of America and Nigeria, and most of all the significant impact Nigerians in the diaspora - in the US to be exact - make to the economy. Oct 1st has been declared Nigerian American Day by the Mayor of DC, and it was pointed out in the event that Nigerian Americans are among the most educated American residents.
