Necessity In Investing In Relationships

Intentional investment in relationships

Some relationships seem effortless and easier to make than others. Depending on the culture of which we are a part, we could be individualistically inclined to focus more on our individualism, and making very superficial connections, or we could be collectivistically inclined and want to connect with everyone on some form of a deeper level. Regardless of how easy or how second nature it may or may not be in making relationships, we have to become intentional in the relationships we make if we want our lives to navigate towards our desired purpose and goal.

When God decided it was time to get more out of His creation to fulfill Him, He made man and had a scheduled relationship-building session with him. One evening He shows up, and the man is MIA hiding somewhere. Centuries go by and He attempts to rebuild something with man. It doesn't really work. So He adorns flesh, and comes down and forges a relationship with the man. He chooses 12, and inner caucused 3 and intimates with 1 to finally get what He wanted.

Likewise, we will have to do the same. Evaluate what you want and need in your journey towards passion and purpose. Identify what sort of assistance you will need to help you navigate in that direction. Find people who can assist you in those areas.
Does this mean you would be immediate best friends with who you find? No! You may not even like some of the potential people you find! It isn't about liking them; it is about investing your time and attention with them to the point of getting the knowledge and influence you need from them to equip you in your journey. If you're fortunate, you could find a friend in them. Otherwise, they may end up being an acquaintance or a professional relationship.

If you want to excel in a particular course, for example, you may need to go research and find affordable private tutors in that course. You could also discover a coworker in a different department at your job who is a graduate of that same course and may be willing to tutor you occasionally. The answers and assistance we need to help us to our next level are within reach before us.

Lastly, as we intentionally invest in these necessary relationships in our lives, conflicts will show up and attempt to decimate them. We have to intentionally go against our most natural and normal response to move on, and make the hard choice to stay in the relationship and make it work because it isn't a relationship for emotional fulfillment, but one enabling you towards your destiny goals.
