The Necessity for Confrontation

Confrontation is unavoidable. In an ideal world we wouldn't need to. But we live in a world where boundaries are violated often. When you see a pattern of habitual violation of boundaries, sometimes you just have to make a decision and say "Today, I'm shutting this down!".

Why? Because people will always operate with you the way you permit them to. They may try to opinionate themselves over your opinion. It is your prerogative to back them off to operate in their opinions in their space. If anyone tries to invalidate your opinion with theirs, it is your responsibility to acknowledge their opinion as theirs, and yours as yours. Your voice matters, just as theirs does to them. You can choose to disagree.
Unfortunately most people who are argumentative will not settle for that. They will want to go on and on in an attempt to nullify your point of view with theirs. Thats when you shut that nonsense down, and enforce your boundary - the freedom to have your own point of view, regardless if it is popular/acceptable or not!
