African Fruits and Seeds

There are some African fruits that most Africans have no idea what the English names are. So here's a breakdown of some of them

AGBALUMO
(Colloquially it is called African Cherry, but the name is actually White Star Apple, or Chrysophyllum Albidum if you want to be technical)

SOURSOP
(This seems to be the accepted name, though some call it Brazilian Pawpaw, or Thorny Mango)

OGBONO
(The seed of Wild Mango, African Mango, or Bush Mango. Also known as Irvingia Gabonensis)

EBELEBO
(Country Almond, Indian Almond, Tropical Almond. Also known as Terminalia Catappa)

These are the ones I can remember. Anybody remember more to add?

  1. OMW!! Since childhood I've wondered what the last one was called. It's just called "fruit" in lagos. I didn't even know it's called ebelebo in other parts.
