Emancipation Day in DC April 16th.
150 years ago today (April 16th 1862), Abraham Lincoln signed the Act that freed more than 3,000 slaves in Washington, DC. Fastforward to today, and we have a black man as the president of America. Who would have thought 150 years ago today that such a possibility was even conceivable? Could any of those slaves then even dare to imagine that one day someone like them would ascend to the highest office in the land?
I wonder what possibilities seem like fantastical imaginations even right now......
